Five Youngstown City School District bus drivers put their skills to the test this morning at the Northeast Ohio Regional School Bus Safety Road-E-O event.

The event at the Mahoning County Career and Technical Center tested drivers' safety and operational skills, including a written test and different exercises to assess maneuverability skills.

"I know they will make me, CEO Krish Mohip and the whole school district proud," said Colleen Murphy-Penk, YCSD's chief of transportation. "And I want to thank them and all of our YCSD drivers for another successful school year."

The YCSD participants include Derrick Cathy, Jeffrey Street, Courtney McKinney, Stephen Lawrence and James Davidson -- and YCSD also provided the buses for the event.

Drivers from Mahoning, Trumbull, Ashtabula, Lake, Geauga, Summit, and Portage counties participated.

Those who do the best will move on to the state competition in May.
