Each year, the Mercer Memorial Day 500 Committee hangs banners to honor military members from Mercer County.

Today, a banner was hung for Joshua McClimans, a fallen soldier from Jamestown who died in 2011 at 30 years old.

His family members and friends from California, North Carolina and West Virginia came out for the ceremony.

The banners are part of the Hometown Hero Banner program and will remain at the Mercer County Courthouse for about two months.

The remaining banners will be erected on Saturday, May 5 at 9 a.m. at the Mercer County Court House.
