A popular restaurant in Struthers that closed last year reopened today under new management.

One of the biggest questions regarding Rip's reopening was whether their famous "Hunky Platter" would return to the menu.

Co-owner Bob Deagan confirmed that the "Hunky Platter" would be on the menu every Thursday.

The platter consists of stuffed cabbage, perogies, and haluski.

Rip's Cafe, or "Rip's Restaurant" as it was originally called, opened in 1933 and was named after the owner, George "Rip" Repasky.

After Repasky's death, the restaurant stayed in the family, the owners eventually retiring from the business.

The new owners of Rip's said they were allowed to keep the name of the restaurant but gave it their feel.

"We made it ours for the most part. We have pictures on the wall to reflect, you know, the history of the bar and now we're doing our thing," said Deagan.

The hours for Rip's Cafe will be Monday through Saturday, 11 am to midnight. It is open from 11 am to 10 pm on Sunday.
