New Castle police have arrested the suspect in connection with a double shooting that left one man dead last week. 

Twenty-seven-year-old Anthony Thurman turned himself in to police Wednesday. 

Police said the double shooting happened near the 500 block of East Winter Avenue on April 11.

Both victims were sent to UPMC Jameson with gunshot wounds shortly after police were called to the scene.

Officers said 35-year-old Michael Riser of Michigan died from his injuries.

Another 30-year-old man was treated for a gunshot wound to the upper leg.

Thurman now faces charges of criminal homicide, criminal attempt to commit homicide and possession of firearms prohibited. 

He currently is being held in the Lawrence County Jail without bond.
