The Austintown Board of Education announced Wednesday that Superintendent Vincent S. Colaluca is retiring after 10 years.

In a press release, the board congratulated Colaluca on his accomplishments with the district, bringing students a 21st-century education and leading the Valley in academic programming.  

The board attributes new academic programs in the district to Colaluca including, the 6th-12th grade STEM Pathway, the K-5th grade STEM curriculum, the 9th-12th grade Business Pathway, the 3th-12th grade One to One Chromebook initiative, the K-2nd grade technology initiative, the K-12th grade Falcon Pride OnLine blended learning program, the K-12th grade HOPE Alternative Program. 

They also attribute the passage of Bond to build AES and AIS elementary buildings and the securing of a $500,000 federal grant for the Austintown Falcon Mobile Medical Unit to Colaluca. 

During Colaluca's tenure, the district earned "Excellent with Distinction" on the local report card, consecutively earned the "Momentum Award" from the Ohio Department of Education and earned the Federal Blue Ribbon Award for Watson Elementary.

Colaluca has received several leadership accolades statewide including, the Buckeye Association School Administrators Exemplary Leadership Superintendent Award, the BASA Regional 4 Executive Committee Representative and the YSU Distinguished Alumni Educator Award.

Recently, Colaluca worked with the board to invest $350,000 in the Fitch Auditorium and $2.3 million to the Fitch Athletic Complex.
