Corporate official says some Perkins in Valley could close
Locations in Niles, Canfield, Warren, Youngstown and Austintown could close according to the statement.
A complaint has been filed against a franchisee that may result in the company shutting down its locations.
According to a corporate official, the complaint was filed by Perkins & Marie Callender's against 5171 Campbells Land Co., Inc. (CLC) on June 27 calling for the court to order CLC to shut down and de-identify 26 Perkins locations immediately.
The 26 restaurants are located in Ohio, Pennsylvania, and New York.
CLC acquired the rights to the franchise in February of 2018 and have been in default since April 2018 after failing to pay agreed upon royalty fees, according to the corporate official.
The corporate official says Perkins & Marie Callender's became compelled to terminate the agreement in June and is now asking for court assistance in the matter.
